THE HULT FAMILY LEGACY
THE HULT FAMILY LEGACY
We ask two generations of Hultians to explain why they decided to keep Hult in the
family and how the school has changed over the years.
Fernando Ferré (MBA Class of 1991) &
Sebastian Ferré (BBA Class of 2017)
Fernando, how did your son,
Sebastian, end up at Hult?
Sebastian had been living in the
U.S. for the last six years and it
was time to start looking for a
college. Initially, our first choice
was an American school. One
day, I was invited to an alumni
meeting in Caracas. Then
BOOM, I knew this is the right place for Sebas to study at. Businessoriented, a practical approach, constant evolution, and starting in
London. The school, plus the European experience seduced my
family and especially Sebas. It became his first choice as soon as
he learned about it. Now, it is his chance to take full advantage of
everything Hult has to offer.
Fernando, what are the biggest differences you‘ve noticed
between your time at ADL and your son’s time at Hult?
There are a few big differences—first of all, Sebastian is enrolled on
the undergraduate program, which didn’t exist when I was at ADL.
Hult also now offers more international exposure and an increased
international presence. I can assure you that if I were 19 again I
would definitely apply to Hult. Having the opportunity to study and
live in London, then in Dubai, and after that in Shanghai or Boston…
well there's not much more to add to the immense possibilities and
life-changing episodes one young person could face during that
period of time.
Sebastian, how did your father’s experience at ADL influence
your decision to go to Hult?
My father's experience at ADL was an important factor when making
my decision to go to Hult. It was clear to me that my experience was
going to be very different from my father’s, since his was a long time
ago and also he was studying for his Master degree in Boston and
I was joining the Bachelor program in London. But even though I
18
knew the experiences would be different I felt there would be some
familiarity in our experience and that we would always share the
common bond of having attended Hult. One aspect of Hult remains
the same today; it offers the world’s most global business program,
and it truly prepares you for the future, something Hult did for him
and I’m sure it will do for me.
Sebastian, how are you finding your experience at Hult now?
What’s been your most memorable moment so far?
I have enjoyed my time at Hult in all aspects—educational and
social. I have enjoyed my professors, my classmates, and classes,
but one of my most memorable moments was a couple of days
ago when I went to Paris for the weekend with my new friend from
France. We got out of class at four, we bought the tickets at four
thirty, we packed our bags, and jumped on the train and a couple of
hours later I was in Paris meeting new people, and experiencing life
as a Parisian. Can’t beat that!
Xavier Cahiz (MBA Class of 1991) &
Alexander Cahiz (MIB Class of 2014)
Xavier, why did you choose to
study at ADL?
I was working in Venezuela for
one of my family businesses,
and after we agreed to sell the
business, I decided to look for
a MBA or Master program. I
was looking for a one-year,
internationally-focused, practical,
and hands-on program. A family
friend recommended ADL to me.
Xavier, how did your son, Alexander, end up at Hult?
Alexa and I were discussing his career plans as he was not satisfied
with his current job situation and I suggested looking into business
