GLOBAL ALUMNI SUMMIT 2013 The Summit 2013—Your Need-to-Know Info The speakers, the workshops, the activities—all you need to know about this year’s summit in Cartagena. The historic Hotel Caribe This year’s summit takes place at the historic Hotel Caribe, the first hotel ever built in Cartagena de Indias back in 1941. Its colonial tower, marble corridors, and large arches have made it one of the city’s architectural icons. Ten minutes from the airport, the Hotel Caribe sits on the Caribbean beachfront and features its own private beach, pools, gym, games room, and even a mini zoo! Located in Bocagrande, in a well-established neighborhood, the hotel is within walking distance of a variety of shops, restaurants, banks, and other amenities. It’s also just 5 minutes away from the charming Old Town, which is a must-visit in Cartagena. Useful information Your passport will need to be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival and you must have a valid return ticket home. Most nationalities do not require a visa to enter Colombia, however please do check with the Colombian embassy or consulate in your home country for more details. You’ll probably arrive in Cartagena at the Rafael Núñez International Airport, the fourth largest airport in Colombia. Airport transfer can be arranged with your hotel or at a kiosk at the airport where you can pre-pay for your taxi at set rates. Cartagena has a pleasantly warm climate with daytime temperatures averaging between 28ºC (82ºF) and 30ºC (86ºF). However temperatures can dip at night, so it’s wise to bring a light sweater along with your swimwear! 06
