What is EQUIS accreditation? What is AACSB accreditation?
EQUIS is a global accreditation scheme for
leading institutions of business education. It is
granted and run by the European Foundation
for Management Development (EFMD), whose
mission is to raise the standard of management
education worldwide. It is arguably one of the
most rigorous of international business school
accreditation schemes, taking schools several
years to prepare for the process of accreditation. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools
of Business (AACSB) is the world’s largest business
education alliance and is internationally recognized
as a hallmark of quality reserved for business
and accounting programs at bachelor, master,
and doctoral levels. There are currently 816
business schools in 53 countries and territories
that have earned AACSB accreditation, 500 of
which are based in the U.S. Hult achieved this
accreditation on June 19, 2017.
EQUIS makes a comprehensive and holistic
assessment of the school, looking not only at the
degree programs offered but also at the activities
of the institution—from teaching, research, and
business connections, to executive education
provision, community outreach, alumni relations,
student opinion, and administration resources.
EQUIS has a particular focus on internationalization
and relevance, looking at a school’s connections
with the real world of global business. EQUIS
accredited institutions are expected to have an
innovative learning environment that develops
leadership and entrepreneurial skills, while
simultaneously fostering a sense of global
responsibility.
What is AMBA accreditation?
The Association of MBAs (AMBA) is an impartial
international authority that represents the highest
standard of achievement in postgraduate business
education and it is earned by only the best
programs globally. It currently accredits over 240
MBA programs offered by business schools in
more than 70 different countries. Hult secured
this accreditation on April 27, 2016.
EQUIS currently accredits 176 international
business schools operating in 40 countries.
Three U.S.-based business schools, including
Hult, currently have EQUIS accreditation.
