The trainee choristers of Salisbury
Cathedral Choir flip pancakes to
mark Shrove Tuesday outside the
13th-century cathedral. Every year
the choristers make pancakes at the
Canon Precentor’s house to learn
about the meaning of Shrove Tuesday,
which is traditionally the day that all
fats and flesh are eaten up to prepare
for the 40-day fast of Lent.
