The United States had filed criminal charges against him earlier this month. Martin-Artajo denied the charges and said he will fight any request for extradition, the AP reports. ‘WHALE OF A FIGHT’ House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said this week he wants spending cuts that exceed the increase in the debt ceiling needed when the Treasury Department hits its borrowing limit in mid-October. He promised a “whale of a fight” over the issue. “The president doesn’t think this is fair, thinks I’m being difficult to deal with,” he said. “It may be unfair, but what I’m trying to do here is to leverage the political process to produce more change than what it would produce if left to its own devices.” ZIMMERMAN WANTS FLORIDA TO PAY George Zimmerman, who was found not guilty this summer in the killing of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, wants to recoup some of his legal fees. Zimmerman’s lawyer told the Orlando Sentinel that he will ask the state to pay up to $300,000 in legal bills. State law allows defendants who win a trial to get back money for costs related to the case, such as expenses for expert witnesses, the paper reported.
