After a recent meditation and
discussion on vedana, the Buddhist idea of the body and mind’s
sense of good, bad and neutral
“feeling tones” in everyday life,
the conversation turned, as it often does, to race. A woman passed
around flyers for a conference
about race relations that was
coming to the city, while others
reminisced over a shared experience the weekend prior, when
dozens of Buddhists from the region joined for the region’s first
people of color retreat about two
hours south of the city.
