A Michigan lawmaker performed The Vagina Monologues on the statehouse
steps after she says she was barred from speaking about abortion. Democratic
state Rep. Lisa Brown says that the Republican Majority Floor Leader, Jim
Stamas, gaveled her out of order when she told supporters of an anti-abortion
bill that, “I’m flattered you’re all so concerned about my vagina, but no means
no.” Eve Ensler, the author of the play, flew in to see Brown’s performance and
compared the Republican House leadership to “the Dark Ages.”
