HIGH COURT REJECTS
GUANTANAMO PRISONER APPEALS
The Supreme Court declined on Monday without
comment to consider appeals from seven detainees
held for the past decade at Guantanamo Bay. Four years
ago, the Court ruled that military prisoners have the
right to challenge the legality of their detention before
a judge, but has since left the question of indefinite
detention to the Obama administration. President
Obama has yet to make good on
his campaign promise to
close Guantanamo, where
169 detainees remain.
