NEXT UP AT KEYS PARK... Next to travel to Keys Park in the Skrill North: Stockport County Following the visit this afternoon of Boston United in the Skrill North, The Pitmen welcome another former Football League club, Stockport County, to Keys Park this coming Tuesday, January 14th with a 7:45pm kick off. Also, Stockport County bought a certain Ashley Willams from The Pitmen in 2003. He spent five years at the Greater-Manchester-based club before joining Swansea City and has since gone on to captain both that club and Wales. It was only back in 2011 that Stockport County dropped out of the Football League after 106 years. Led by manager Alan Lord, last season Stockport finished 21st in the Conference Premier with a 4-0 defeat away to Kidderminster Harriers (which included former Pitman Cheyenne Dunkley scoring the second goal) on the final day of last season, sending The Hatters down. Hednesford need to be wary of Phil Jevons, as the former Hyde striker has already scored 13 goals in 20 games for The Hatters and looks to carry on his impressive goal scoring record. This season they currently sit 16th in The Skrill North. After a poor start to the season manager Ian Bogie resigned at the end of August allowing Alan Lord to step up as manager and he started to improve results, including a 5-1 win away at Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday. The scheduled visit of County to Keys Park will be the first ever meeting of Hednesford Town and Stockport County. It’s no surprise that the two clubs have never met in league action with the County having spent the majority of their time in the Football League, but the two clubs do have a connection in current Pitmen right back John Disney who was with County before being released in 2010 when he joined Northwich Victoria. 42 thePitmen Richard Scott tweet @nonleaguerich thePitmen We’re keen to get your thoughts on this season’s match programme, so feel free to email [email protected] to pass on ideas and feedback.
