What Does A Connected Job Site Mean To You ?
Making sure everyone is not only getting the data they need but that they know how to use it . Data overload is something we have struggled with , so we encourage site leaders to adapt their HammerTech dashboards to clearly display pertinent information in a way that is easy to understand and apply .
Is There Something That Bubbles To The Top In Terms Of Significance Or Importance ?
Whatever we can do to make safety processes easier and set our teams up for success . Right now , we are focusing on sharing the benefits of HammerTech to make employees and contractors more receptive to digitization . Fostering team engagement and encouraging everyone from management to the frontline workers to contribute quality data to the program is key in this transition .
Is There An Opportunity To Help The Planning Stages Of Future Projects With All This Extra Data ?
I want to learn more about human performance and error to uncover where our true risk lies . Breaking focus areas down into categories and honing in on those can help us respond to highrisk areas more quickly . Not only will this improve our job sites but it will also enhance the culture of safety we pride ourselves on .
How Do You See The Role Of The Safety Professional Evolving In The Next Five To 10 Years ?
We ’ re becoming much more involved in the workplace . Rather than simply enforcing the rules , we ’ re engaging in site leadership , project evaluation and budgeting , and assessing new opportunities for improvement .
What Were Some Immediate Challenges You Faced When Beginning To Digitize Field Safety Data ?
Data overload was number one . Our employees and contractors didn ’ t understand how to filter the information they needed within HammerTech and were feeling overwhelmed . We found ourselves struggling to measure improvement and opportunities for improvement .
How Did You Mitigate These Challenges ?
We ’ ve been having conversations with our teams around using the platform and what we can do to make it better . We ’ ve also created simple visuals for reporting and highlighting important safety factors for each job . When project teams and trade partners are making an exceptional effort to utilize the platform , we are quick to recognize them for it .
Would You Say Developing Standardized Processes Is A Pillar Of Your Approach To Optimize Team Engagement ?
Absolutely . We want to understand our stakeholders ’ struggles and how we can help them succeed with the new technology . Our safety platform is the product of their data and their inspections , so they are integral in designing a dashboard that ’ s effective for them . At the end of the day , engagement is what ’ s going to prevent injuries and save lives .
What Have You Learned In Moving A Large Organization From Siloed Processes To A Unified Digital Platform ?
It ’ s a great opportunity to ask the hard questions and reassess the traditional approach to EHS processes . It may be uncomfortable , but our willingness to be innovative and expand outside the norm has helped our organization get the most out of this transition .
