“ For our Tyne & Falmouth yards this is particularly relevant as houses border both yards , and so we strive to keep noise and disruption to the minimum . We ’ re currently looking at ways to involve local university students to help us find new ways to improve and deliver on our corporate and social responsibilities ,” Pia explains .
MEMBERSHIP ASSOCIATIONS AND ACCREDITATIONS A & P Group is certified to FPAL and is approved with Achilles ( UVDB – Utility Companies Vendor pre qualification database ) as well as being registered and approved in Avetta . The Group is also a key and participating member of Marine Fabrication and Engineering National Interest Group . Pia continues : “ As members of NIG we attend regular meetings to discuss health , safety and environmental issues in the industry . This provides a welcome opportunity to seek guidance on policy matters , share best practice regarding workplace HSE initiatives and learn from ongoing incidents and investigations across the UK .”
STANDARDS
A & P Group has been approved by Lloyd ’ s Register Quality Assurance and has achieved ISO 9001:2008 ( quality ) ISO 14001:2004 ( environment ) and OHSAS 18001:2007 ( safety ). These certifications have been maintained for a number of years , highlighting how these principles , processes and benchmarks have become integral to the Group ’ s operations .
SUPPLIERS , CONSULTANTS AND KEY SERVICE PROVIDERS
A & P has a strong supply chain of more than 100 subcontractors , partners , consultants and suppliers , all working with the Group on an ongoing basis .
“ These businesses are integral to our operations and allow us to bring in expertise as and when projects dictate . As such , it ’ s vital that the people and organisations involved in the delivery of our projects share our commitment to professional , quality workmanship and safety .
“ We prefer suppliers to be approved by a UKAS certification body but for smaller organisations we recognise that this is not always possible . We audit all of our suppliers on an annual basis using an in-house standard that covers things such as competency and safe systems of work . Our onsite contractors are all given
