Welcome to the 2023 racing season !
I hope that your winter has gone well so far and that you are getting ready to go racing again . I am delighted to report that we have an excellent calendar for the coming year and full details of which championships and series go to which events are detailed elsewhere in this new magazine . As ever , planning the racing season for our members is not the work of a moment , and many external and financial factors impact on what we are able to do and the dates and venues we are able to offer .
There are two events in particular that I would like to highlight . In April , we will bring back the Autosport 3 Hour race at Snetterton for all pre ‘ 66 GT cars . This non-championship race is in response to member requests to provide an endurance race , and we really hope that many people will support it . With 50 minutes qualifying and a three hour race for teams of up to three people per car and an entry fee close to half that of our competitors , this is a wonderful opportunity to relive one of the most prestigious races in national racing history . There are only 38 spaces available and we will be opening entries in February on a first come , first
served basis .
Whilst the Autosport 3 Hour race is primarily targeted at our Club racing members , we are also opening this up to anyone who is not currently an HSCC racing member with a suitable car . It is a rare chance for people to contest an endurance race on the excellent 200 circuit at Snetterton and we expect that , at these prices , entries will be brisk . Don ’ t be disappointed by leaving it too late . It should be a great event !
Then , at the end of August , we have the newly titled Silverstone Festival over the Bank Holiday weekend of Friday , Saturday and Sunday . Having again listened to our Members we have taken three races at this event :
Pre ’ 66 GT at Snetterton
Roadsports , the resurrection of the Silverstone Libre races for all open wheel cars and Thundersports ., In Thundersports we will welcome overseas visitors from America who will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Corvette and there will be a wider invitation class to include as many suitable cars as possible .
We hope that many people will see this as a rare opportunity to race at this fantastic event at a realistic and affordable entry fee . We well know that entering races at the Silverstone Festival can come with a significant price tag and we hope that by setting our prices far less than any other grid organiser , we can make it attractive to as wide an audience as possible .
Across the three grids , we will be able to start more than 150 cars . I really hope that we can hit that ambitious target to make the weekend a great success for everyone involved . So I commend our 2023 racing calendar to you and look forward to seeing you all out and about .
