MATTERS OF THE MOMENT
Snetterton got the Club ’ s racing season off to a great start
News from the Chief Executive , Andy Dee-Crowne

Changing times

At the time of writing this we eagerly await the Government ’ s revised road map on the lifting of Covid restrictions and although I am hopeful of some changes it is unlikely that we will see anything substantial until after 21 June . This means that there will still be restrictions for our next few meetings including the segregation of competitors from spectators , and
Cadwell Park is about to happen the continued wearing of facemasks in accordance with Government , Motorsport UK and venue guidelines . Please remain vigilant and follow the guidance so that we may all get back to normality as soon as is possible .
Racing abroad has been heavily hit , not only by the COVID pandemic but also by carnet and VNUK insurance issues . The latter , I am pleased to say is currently being negotiated with our insurance broker , and I am hopeful that the Club will have in force a members ’ scheme in the near future as part of your membership fee .
The Club has seen a steady increase in numbers over the last few events and our Silverstone International entries topped 370 . Cadwell Park was very close to 200 entries at the time of writing , which is significantly ahead of the 2020 total for the event .
This increase in numbers , whilst most probably attributable to the pandemic and the concentration of
racing within the UK , is vital for the Club ’ s future prosperity . We are a ‘ not for profit ’ members ’ club and if we were able to maintain these entries into the future it gives the Club the opportunity to pass on to our members benefits in the form of sustained or even reduced entry fees . Racing with the HSCC gives members the opportunity to race within a dedicated historic environment where safety and regulatory conformance are not just words but are part of our principles .
