Michael Lyon was the toast of the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix Historique after scoring an unprecedented hat-trick of victories in three different Historic Formula 1 cars . Club member Michael , who did much of his early racing with the HSCC , drove brilliantly all weekend on the famous and challenging street circuit to win in the family Hesketh , Surtees and McLaren . It was an unrivalled result in this most prestigious of historic racing festivals .
Lyons , now 30-years-old , has raced period F1 cars at Monaco since he was 17 and until this year had won there three times , twice in the Hesketh 308 and once in the ex-James Hunt McLaren M26 . His best previous result in the Surtees TS9 was a podium finish .
“ We are very much a family team ,” said Michael . “ I wanted to try and win all three and it ’ s a proper challenge ,” he said . “ I ’ d only won one race a year before this year . You get in the flow of the place and it is fantastic . It is a special feeling to win at Monaco .”
