Reflecting on 2021 and looking ahead

Well , there ’ s another year , done and dusted . And it ’ s been quite a year . We ’ ve had a fantastic season of racing with strong grids and a great atmosphere in and around our race meetings . The year has been a real success despite the challenge that we ’ ve all faced with COVID , and the problems with welcoming our friends from overseas and indeed travelling overseas to meet them .
However , thanks to the great support the Club has enjoyed from its racing members , we ’ ve had an excellent year . Thank you all for your custom and for coming racing with the HSCC . We really do appreciate it and hope very much that you will return again in 2022 .
Inevitably , as I write this , there is talk of more restrictions and limitations as the latest variant of COVID starts to spread across Europe . It is quite probable that next season will present us with yet more challenges . However , we ’ ve worked under these conditions now for two years and we ’ ve built up a lot of experience so we feel confident that we will be able to deliver a full racing programme in 2022 , starting at Brands Hatch on the Indy circuit in early April .

There is no doubt that we have an excellent looking calendar coming together for the New Year , which includes a return to Croft and all our usual headline dates . As I write this , we are working busily on organising the content for each race meeting and we erati - AC - lbot

will announce that as early as practical , but it is not the work of a moment and there are many and varied factors that impact on this process . You may have seen content for some series already announced , but please be aware that at the moment , everything remains provisional subject to finalising contracts with circuits .
Just this week , we said farewell to Alan Jones on his last full day in the office . Alan has been our competition secretary for 16 years and has done
One of our rising stars : Samuel Harrison a wonderful job for the Club . We wish him every success for a long and happy retirement with Lynn and we are working on ways of keeping him involved in HSCC racing at a level that will suit him .
Finally , I ’ d like to wish each and every one of you reading this magazine , a healthy and happy Christmas and a prosperous new year . This wish goes out to your families , your teams , your friends and your helpers , for all of them are an essential part of what makes this Club so special .
I look forward to seeing everyone in 2022 though sadly not at Race
Retro , which has become another casualty of the on-going COVID situation . However , we will be going racing , and we will all enjoy ourselves once more , so I look forward to it .
Keep safe Andy Dee-Crowne
