Christmas is coming and it is time to reflect on another season of racing . Once again , everyone who plays a role in planning and running HSCC race meetings deserves a huge vote of thanks for delivering a full season despite the on-going challenge of Covid . There are many people who deserve great credit for this , not least the hard-working team in the Club office .
By the time this issue of Historic Racing lands on your doormat , Alan Jones will have served his last day in the role of Competitions Secretary and his retirement will leave a huge gap to fill .
In 16 years at the HSCC , Alan has been an enormous asset to the Club with his positive , friendly and helpful approach earning him great affection across the sport . On a personal level , I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Alan and have found him unfailingly professional and helpful . We wish him a long and happy retirement and hope that he will never be too far away form the sport he continues to love . Jasmine Walker will , I am sure , be a very worthy replacement and we all wish her well as we head towards the start of the new racing season in April .
May I wish all readers a very happy and healthy Christmas and hope that 2022 will feature lots of highly enjoyable racing with the HSCC . Paul Lawrence
