FEATURE : LOOKING AHEAD

Looking forward to going racing

As we head towards the start of the 2021 racing season , we asked all of the Club ’ s championship and series chairpersons about their hopes and ambitions for the coming year .
Aurora Trophy
Support for Aurora continues to grow with Brian Henton and Ray Mallock putting their names behind the F2 and Atlantic classes . Both Brian and Ray were prolific winners in this period driving a variety of cars . Both hope to attend some of our meetings and , along with Howden Ganley and Tony Trimmer , their generous support is an important contribution to revitalising historic racing in 2021 .
Adding to our F2 numbers , hillclimber Keith Harris and Andrew Tart are converting Keith ’ s faithful Chevron B25 into race specification . His Chevron must be one of the most successful Chevrons to grace the hills and was originally successfully raced by John Lepp and subsequently Patsy McGarrity who converted it to Formula Atlantic specification .
If there is sufficient interest , other Aurora classes will be invited to join the F5000s at the American SpeedFest at Brands Hatch , now rescheduled for 3 / 4 July . This is a huge and essentially fun event , full of US showmanship and will see modern and historic racing . Two unsilenced races are planned with entry fees comparable to that of HSCC events . Interested parties should contact me on norrisracing @ btinternet . com for more details .

Classic Formula 3 / Classic Formula Ford 2000
Our objectives in 2021 are to raise the profile of the series by attracting more cars and drivers to join the grids . A recent survey established that our core owner / drivers lean towards being of a more senior nature and we need to attract more younger owner / drivers to the series . Several new cars and drivers fitting these criteria have already pledged support .
There are approximately 100 Classic F3 cars in the UK and we are using the close season to contact and encourage all owners to join the grids at an excellent six-event HSCC 2021 calendar .
With good support we can create a hospitable camaraderie amongst the CF3 / FF2000 fraternity at each meeting . Hugh Price
