HSCC : APRIL 2021 ISSUE

Editorial Contents

Welcome to the first issue of Historic Racing for 2021 . Some of this issue is dedicated to looking ahead to the coming year and we are pleased to strike an optimistic note about the 2021 season . This is something that our chairman Roger Bevan talks about on page 7 .

Last year was an incredibly difficult year for everyone for so many reasons , but it ended on a high as the Club was recognised in the prestigious Royal Automobile Club Historic Awards . Winning the ‘ competitive event of the year ’ was a wonderful achievement for all those who worked so hard to make the Brands Hatch weekend such a success .
In this issue , we spotlight two racing members who have raced across half a century and it was a real privilege to spend a little time with John Evans and Rick Morris . As a youngster , I well remember John winning in the ARK Racing Lotus Elan and Rick hurling Formula Fords around . Both are enjoying their racing as much as ever !
By the time this issue hits your doormat , the Historic Formula 2 and Classic Formula 3 / Classic Formula Ford 2000 races at Donington over Easter will be fast approaching and our season opener at Snetterton will be around a month away . I hope that the pandemic situation and vaccination programme will allow us all to go racing once more ! Paul Lawrence
