Richardson said : “ I ’ ve had a number of new enquires from people wanting to come and join Thundersports . Most have been based around two-litre sports prototypes but we have also had other interest in the GT section and from Can-Am cars so the 2021 season is looking very positive .”
Thundersports partners with Racing Spirit
Racing Spirit will be an associate supporter of Thundersports in 2021 . Racing Spirit is a fast-growing brand servicing three main fan bases of classic cars , classic bikes and aircraft . The association with Thundersports will centre on its alcohol products , notably Racing Spirit Gin .
To support the Thundersports racers , bottles of Racing Spirit Gin will be presented to the race winners and class winners at each of the four Thundersports races in 2021 . Each bottle will be personalised for HSCC Thundersports .
In addition , the winner of the race at the prestigious Silverstone Classic will win a stunning resin sculpture of a Porsche 917 crafted by sculptor Greg Percival . It is hoped that Patron-in Chief , and 1970 Le Mans winners in a 917 , Richard Attwood will be able to make the podium presentation .

New format for Brands Hatch Indy and GP circuit event
The Legends of Brands Super Prix weekend will have a fresh format for 2021 and for the first time the Club will use both the Indy and Grand Prix circuit layouts at the hugely popular venue ( 9-11 July ). The 2020 edition of the Legends of Brands Super Prix was named the ‘ Competitive Event of the Year ’ in the annual Royal Automobile Club Historic Awards .
At the 2021 event , Friday ’ s programme will take place on the Indy circuit before the action switches to the sensational Grand Prix circuit for Saturday and Sunday . Provisionally , Friday ’ s schedule is for five test sessions for weekend competitors before six qualifying sessions and six races through the afternoon .
The six races set for Friday afternoon on the Indy circuit are Thundersports , Historic Formula Ford , Classic Formula Ford , Historic Formula 3 , Historic Formula Ford 2000 and Champion of Brands Formula Ford . With the exception of Champion of Brands FF , all those classes then switch to the Grand Prix circuit for another qualifying session and a second race on Saturday .
On the GP circuit on Saturday and Sunday will be races for Guards Trophy , Historic Road Sports , 70s Road Sports , Historic Touring Cars , Formula Junior , Classic Formula 3 / Classic Formula Ford 2000 and Aurora Trophy / Geoff Lees Trophy .
Significant guests will be racers from the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association , with one qualifying session and three races on Saturday and Sunday for a fabulous array of pre ’ 66 Grand Prix cars . In addition , guests from the French-based HVM organisation will be invited to join the grids for Historic Formula Ford , Classic Formula Ford , Classic Formula 3 , Guards Trophy and Thundersports .
Andy Dee-Crowne said : “ This promises to be a real highlight of our season . It will present a new challenge for some of our competitors while giving everyone a chance to tackle the wonderful Grand Prix circuit . We are hoping to welcome a strong contingent of HVM racers from France , provided that travel restrictions allow .”
