can choose any article you would like;
you can work with a partner or a group to choose an article so that
you have someone to brainstorm with as
well, though that is not a requirement. The one stipulation is this: The
article has to have been written in the
last 30 days, so nothing before January 15, 2017.
Once you have chosen your article, you will spend time analyzing it.
First, you have to think about the audience
and the purpose. Then, you should use the analysis techniques
discussed in class (critical thinking, VIA,
IMVAIN, news deconstruction, bias, etc) to analyze the effectiveness
of the article. Remember, an article
probably falls somewhere on the effectiveness continuum, meaning
no article is wholly good or wholly bad.
You have to decide where it falls, how effective it is for the given
audience.
Remember, using the techniques discussed in class in your own essay
also enhances your credibility, just as it
does in an article.
