About Hunts Point Alliance for Children The Hunts Point Alliance for Children (HPAC) is a community-based organization serving the students and families that live in the 10474 zip code. The mission of the Hunts Point Alliance for Children is to work with local organizations, schools, and directly with families to support the educational progress of the children of Hunts Point. HPAC’s vision is that every child in Hunts Point is ready for kindergarten, middle school, high school, and college. About the Young Writers Program HPAC is creating a Community to College Readiness Pipeline that engages students starting in the fourth grade and supports their journey to college. The Young Writers Program provides intensive academic support and opportunities for students to improve their writing skills through multiple programs, including The Kenyon Young Writers Workshop. huntspoint.org ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Writing requires courage and spirit. The young authors of THE 6 TRAIN: Volume III were inspired and guided by teachers and leaders to be brave, open their hearts, and tell their own stories. HPAC is grateful to all those adults that have opened their own hearts to the students of Hunts Point so that these stories can be shared. Our work would be not be possible without the careful listening, patient teaching, encouragement, and support of our staff and funders.
