FORGETTING IS OUR NATURE
I hate people
With their cameras
Capturing memories
We were left with a tragedy
Yet people still smile
Only forgetting to mourn
A businessman walks past the names,
Instead of acknowledging
He acknowledges his phone
Not one look
Not one thought
Only forgetting
Kids running around as if
it were a playground
I don’t blame them
They are only kids
Forgetting is what they do best
I glance across the “memorial”
Only to see it as a regular park

I begin to mourn
Not for those who died
But for us
We all do one thing:
Forget
It is only our nature
LAST CHANCE
I clench my stomach tighter while I stand
on the green grass thinking the pain
will eventually go away, as it has before.
It is a deep nauseous feeling followed
by sharp pains in the lower abdomen.
