A Catalyst in Catalonia HP STAFF Everyone at HP’s 3D Center of Excellence in Barcelona is busy inventing the future of manufacturing. Barcelona is a city with a long, rich history, with traces of a Roman and medieval past that are gloriously melded with 18th and 19th century architecture and iconic buildings and public spaces. Its coastal location and hardworking citizens made Barcelona the heart of the Industrial Rev- olution in Spain. Today, it remains an important hub of innovation and creativity. In 2019, HP opened a massive 150,000-sq-ft. 3D Printing and Digital Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Barce- lona, clearly showing our intention and commitment to transforming the digital manufacturing industry. As the Center of Excellence was being built, the remains of a Roman settlement from the 2nd century were discovered next to the building site. This juxtaposition embodies how dramatically our world has progressed, and yet how our past informs our incredible future. The 150,000-sq-ft. facility provides a large-scale factory environment for developing HP’s industrial 3D printing portfolio and collaborating with customers and partners. 15
