HELP BUSINESS DRIVE DIVERSITY
OR INHERIT OUR BIASES?
When we think about innovation as it applies to human
resources, we look to Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a technol-
ogy that can deliver promising and scalable advancements
in hiring, training, and managing workforce processes. But
continued investment in diversity and inclusion, which is
essential to our talent pool today, will also be essential to
integrating AI into HR processes. AI can either galvanize
our efforts at promoting diversity and eliminating bias…
or it can inherit existing problems and apply them at scale.
At HP, our goal is to make life better for everyone,
everywhere. Diversity and inclusion are built into this idea:
serving a global customer base requires a diverse talent
pipeline. The better we understand different kinds of cus-
tomers, the better our ability to stay relevant, deliver value,
and create a lasting impact in the industry and beyond.
Whether we admit it or not, corporate organizations
everywhere face “unconscious bias” that influences the
hiring process. Unconscious bias refers to split-second
