This past fall in Chicago we held our largest-ever partner event: HP Reinvent World Partner Forum. We always look forward to our annual gathering of channel partners, but there was a palpable excitement at this year’s forum. Everything that took place on the diverse agenda was infused with the trends and opportunities that will shape HP and our partners’ fortunes in 2018 and beyond. And from what we heard at the conference, our channel partners share our sense of mo- mentum and optimism for HP’s vision and direction. The event featured a full spectrum of announcements—from technology innovations to new products, services and security initiatives. We launched HP University, a global partner training program. It’s an unprecedented investment in equip- ping our 18,000 worldwide Partner First members to optimize revenue and exceed customers’ evolving expectations. On hand to present our future vision were HP leaders including CEO Dion Weisler; President of Printing and Imaging, Enrique Lores; and President of Personal Systems, Ron Coughlin. We also welcomed special guests including HP board member and former director of the National Science Foundation Subra Suresh; Jabil VP of 3D Printing, John Dulchinos; and Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington. Together we enjoyed fasci- nating and challenging conversations and presentations, painting a vivid picture of tomorrow’s world. I must admit to being one of those whose presentations on trends and the future can strike a little fear in peoples’ hearts, describing the hurtling pace of innovation and the magnitude of change it will drive. As collabora- tive stewards of disruptive technology and digital transformation, we must use our powers for good—thinking deeply, expansively and imaginatively about security—to keep people and their physical and digital assets safe in this brave new world. We’re moving into uncharted waters, developing AI and learning machines that are smarter than we are, and the ability to edit human DNA. The future is calling, summoning all the ingenuity and creativity we have to offer. HP can rise to meet this opportunity with a vibrant, growing channel—reinvented to capitalize on tomorrow’s opportunities. We believe we’ll go farther, faster, together, delivering on the potential of digital trans- formation for customers and business around the globe.   Shane Wall Chief Technology Officer, HP and Global Head, HP Labs 2 Innovation Journal · Issue 8 · Winter 2017
