THE OUTLOOK : DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION THE OUTLOOK : SUPPLY CHAIN literacy of our workforce , and using the power of data , AI , automation , and robotics to extract cost and complexity from across our business .
This enables us to continue creating technology that makes life better for everyone , everywhere . For example , with HP ID ( HP Identity ), millions of HP customers and users are able to securely access HP digital services .
HP is focused around becoming a more customer-obsessed company , implementing innovative technologies , tools , and processes to advance our business , and developing new capabilities and initiatives while positioning HP as a digital leader .
5 / As Chief Transformation Officer , what are your priorities ? Our first order of business has been to gain clarity around the IT Innovation and Transformation Organization ’ s vision and strategy and to create cultural alignment with our people .
Second , we are developing new and more efficient ways of working , using agile methodology ; we are creating a Digital Center of Excellence ( CoE ); we are investing in digital literacy for all employees ; and finally , we have a garage , too — the Digital Garage , where we foster a culture of innovation and solve business problems using digital capabilities . We think of the Digital Garage as a core place to “ collaborate to innovate .” This initiative brings together cross-functional digital champions to accelerate the adoption of technological investments and identify new sources of efficiencies and differentiation .
We ’ ve also kicked off a couple of key programs that are strategic for the company around enterprise planning and forecasting , and reporting and analytics .
Transformation is essential for HP to remain competitive . We must become more agile , more cost-efficient , and more data-driven in everything we do to deliver on our strategy and improve the customer experience .
“HP MUST BECOME MORE AGILE , MORE COST-EFFICIENT , AND MORE DATA-DRIVEN IN EVERYTHING WE DO .”
6 / What role will improved digital capabilities play in HP ' s future ? Digital transformation will help improve HP ’ s productivity and agility ; the customer , partner , and employee experience ; new products and services ; and our cost structure .
We are investing in our digital capabilities , making data an asset with enhanced data standards and quality through the streamlining of processes and tools . We are also implementing more efficient transactions so there is one system of record , with simplified , scalable , and flexible cloud-based management software for business needs and mobility . And we are implementing smart planning and analytics , using company-wide digital reporting and analytics , one enterprise planning process , and automation and artificial intelligence enablement at scale . These innovations all lead us to a total digital pivot where we are transitioning from manual , fragmented , and expensive platforms to a leading digital customer experience .

Meeting Higher Demand , Sustainably

Antoine Simonnet , HP ’ s Chief Supply Chain Officer , on technology ’ s role in building a resilient and responsible economy .
N THE SECOND QUARTER of

I this calendar year , HP shipped more than 18 million PCs — a record-breaking number for our company and our industry .

Our numbers for home printers were also staggering — and undoubtedly , these are reasons to celebrate . But as the demand for goods rises in a world of increasingly finite resources , these are also reasons to reflect .
For every company , HP included , the ability to meet our customers ’ needs today cannot come at the expense of creating a better world for tomorrow . As supply chains are under immense pressure to adapt , resiliency and sustainability are critical . We won ’ t achieve either by sticking to the status quo .
Similarly , as massive disruptions stalled the world ’ s supply chains nearly instantaneously , we ’ ve realized just how invaluable digital transformation is to our future . The millions of pieces of lifesaving personal protective equipment , 3D-printed efficiently and on demand from shared internet files , is a hopeful illustration of where we are headed , and our timeline for getting there will only accelerate .
