Whenever the coachee seems to get nowhere , hesitates to make decisions or take action:  Slow down and express empathy, especially about the difficulty of changing.  Emphasise personal choice and control.  Don’t try to provide solutions — invite the coachee to reconfirm his goals and to collaborate in providing a solution.
