So, all we can hope for is that we choose at least a ‘good’ role model. A ‘good’ role model is one that makes it easy for you to adopt. We’ll learn about three common mistakes one can make while working with his or her role model later in this article. So, where can one find a role model? This is easy since we’ve got marvellous technology at our disposal. We can utilize magazines, newspapers, books, movies, cds, dvds, our tv and of course the internet. But if you want to become more effective you first have to figure out how exactly you want to be. It’s wise to write down how you want to be after the role model process. By writing it down you can analyze your progress later and adjust the number and kind of your role models. This sounds all a bit technical, I know. But becoming more effective is not some kind of magic. Everybody can become more effective with this simple method. It sounds technical because it IS technical. It’s a skill, a craft you have to learn in order to utilize it. So, in order to choose the right role model you have to choose people who are good at what they’re doing. You have to choose people who inspire you. If you want to be a famous singer you have to choose a famous singer as your role model. If you want to become more successful at work you have to choose a successful co-worker whom you admire for his abilities. If you want to be a better parent you have to look for parents that you ask for advice when you need it. If you want to be beautiful you have to find people who are beautiful. Finding the right role model is pretty easy. The next part is harder. 185
