5. Periscopic Learning aka Borrowed Genius
Win Wenger's Borrowed Genius technique is a creative thinking
procedure that enables you to tap into the experience and knowledge
of a self chosen expert in the field where you are looking for
solutions or developments. To do so, move into the genius” body
(mind) and experience things the way the genius would experience
them.
The key to this technique
is that you describe what
you see and experience
OUT LOUD. The more
you describe, the more
details you will see.
If you are working with
a partner, have him or
her guide you through
the different steps. If you
are working alone, you
might like to use a flowchart or pre-record the
steps
for
yourself,
leaving plenty of time in
which to explore.
Now choose the genius you would like to meet, the person who is a
master in the skill or subject you would like to develop. The master
may be someone you know or someone you don't know; may come
from the past, present or future; or may be imaginary. You could
also just let yourself be surprised by who or what your larger mind
chooses to play the role of genius.
