The Importance of Law School Cont.

Is it Worth it?

This advantage comes at a cost. According to Jeff Rose, a certified financial planner, the average price of law school is $45,569 per year. For something that is unnecessary to be a sports agent, and does not guarantee success, is that even worth it? For Jack Bechta, a successful sports agent without a law degree, who is doing very well for himself, determined that this extra expense was not worth the cost. Jack Betcha is a big name for sports agents and did very well for himself, but even he says “If you want to become an agent, law school is not a must but will definitely help your cause and give you some credibility with players and their families” (Bechta). So for those that want to have that edge, that little boost to make them better than those who didn't put in the time, money, effort, blood, sweat, and tears that is law school, law school is your answer.

All in all becoming a sports agent is no easy feet and not something one can just nonchalantly get to. Being a Sports agent will take hard work long hours and many headaches, but to insure that one will be the best candidate for the job law school is the best option. Sure Jack betcha survived in the league without the degree but even he knows that law school is important. Being able to be that one stop shop, not having to bring in outside consultants to due the contracting, being able to catch and have a keen eye for those tiny details is what will propel one past the competition and to be able to say “show me the money”.

Say YES to law school.
