P.A.C.E.D.
(Familiar Situation)
Problem: The problem is that I’ve already made plans with my family, however my friends are asking me to go to a party with them. If I go with my family, my friends would be mad at me. If I go with my friends, my family would be angry at me especially since we had already planned this out.
Alternatives: I could go with my family and then leave halfway and meet with my friends. Or, I could cancel with my friends and go with my family or I could cancel with my family and go with my friends.
Criteria: If I cancel with my family, they would be very angry with me especially if we had been planning this for a while. My family might not trust me as much, however they would forget about it in some time. If I cancel with my friends, they might be mad at me too however they would forget about it faster than my parents will, because a party is not as important as a family dinner.
Evaluate: I feel that it would be better to cancel with my friends, as my relationship with my family is more important to maintain than my relationship with friends. Plus, a party isn’t as important to my friends as a dinner is too my family, as a dinner or any gathering is crucial in maintaining a positive relationship whereas a party is just a place to have fun and does not help in making a relationship stronger or weaker.
Decision: I will cancel the party with my friends and go to the dinner with my family, because a dinner with my family would be better for me and everyone else in my family. It will help in making our relationship stronger, compared to a party with my friends.
