Clothing

It was the woman’s job to tan hides by putting the skins in the sun to dry. These skins from the buffalo and other animals like deer or elk, were used for the clothing and were sewn by the women to make dresses and skirts while the men wore shirts, breechclouts and leggings. In the cold months a buffalo robe with fur on one side with the other side decorated with different designs. Moccasins were also made from the animal hides.The horn from the buffalo was used as decorative items like head dresses and necklaces.
