Situated southeast of Vientiane, Buddha Park
produce and incorporates a range of intriguing
flavours, many unfamiliar to the western plates.
Begin with an early morning tour of Vientiane’s
major food market where you will have the
opportunity to investigate these ingredients and
gain knowledge of their uses. You will then learn
how to pound your ingredients in a mortar and
pestle, and cook over an open fire. Enjoy the
fruits of your labour with the recipes provided
for you to take back home and recreate.

Travel north of Vientiane to That Lat Village
Travel by road to Ban Tanmixay Village where
Leave Vientiane behind for the night and travel
where you will visit one of the village communities.
Continue on to Nam Ngum Lake, a picturesque
lake created by damming the Nam Ngum River.
After lunch, visit Ban Keun, famous for its salt
mine. Here, learn about the daily working life of
the local people. Make a brief stop at Tha Ngone
to taste Kao Larm – rice with coconut juice in
a bamboo tube, cooked on fire. You’ll also visit
the market at Dong Makhai where locals trade
produce and sometimes wild animals such as
snakes, birds and rodents!

you will begin your cycling adventure. Pass via
the picturesque rice fields and the mountains
of Phou Khao Khouay. Take a ferry ride down
the river to Ban Thadindeng, a Hmong village.
Explore the village before continuing to cycle in
the midst of rice fields. Stop for a picnic lunch
with the nearby mountain range as the backdrop.
Take another ferry ride across Nam Ngum River
bound for the final destination of the cycling tour
- Ban Somesamai. From here, transfer back to
Vientiane by vehicle.

the picturesque Tham Jang Cave, Tham Xang
(Elephant Cave), Tham Hoi Cave (Snail Cave),
Tham Loup (Deep Cave) and Tham Nam (Water

Song River, remarkable limestone formations,
numerous corridors ending at crystal clear
springs to beautiful stalagmites and stalactites.
Descend the Nam Song by kayak (water level
dependant), offering idyllic scenes of rural life.
