Our favourite things to see and do
A perfect day in Seattle
O rcas swimming next to a ferry, salmon swimming upstream in the
middle of town, and cheese making at Pike Place Market are just some of
the experiences you may not expect to find on a visit to Seattle.
Why not join a walking tour of the hottest places to eat in Seattle or
a chef-led tour where you cook your own meal. Food in the Pacific
Northwest is mouth-watering; from tasty crab, salmon and other seafood
pulled straight from local waters and nearby shores to the fresh meat
and vegetables.
At Pike Place Market there are many fantastic eateries so when you’re
not sure what kind of food you’re in the mood to eat, just head to
Pike Place Market and sample a little of everything or hop on one of
several market tours that focus on food, history, or a little of both. For
something a bit different make sure you’re around when the famous fish-
throwing happens – something you need to see to believe.
Space Needle – A bucket list item for many, the Space Needle is certainly
Seattle’s most iconic structure.
Chihuly Garden and Glass – Located just beneath the Space Needle,
Chihuly Garden and Glass traces the art and career of world-renowned
glass artist Dale Chihuly.
The Museum of Flight – More than 150 historic artefacts are on display
here, including the legendary SR-71 Blackbird, an original Concorde
jetliner and the actual 707 jet used as Air Force One during the ’50s, ’60s
and early ’70s. Many of the exhibits are hands-on and perfect for kids.
Pike Place Market – This is Seattle’s most iconic attraction — and it’s
filled with tasty treats. There are aisles of fruits and vegetables, tables
overflowing with fresh floral bouquets, and booth after booth selling all
manner of locally made jewellery, clothing and gifts.
Now it’s time to hit the pavement as Seattle is a great walking city.
Wander the bustling waterfront, a unique area of the city with dozens of
paths and public spaces. Or just sit and simply enjoy a little bit of people
watching as you absorb the local scene. Smith Tower – Once the tallest building west of the Mississippi, the Smith
Tower has offered Seattle’s best views to the public for over 100 years.
Elevator operators whisk visitors in an old-fashioned copper and brass
elevator car to the 35th floor where you’ll step into the past as you enter
the historic observatory.
End your day with some awe-inspiring views and fine dining up the
iconic Space Needle. At a height of 185 metres, the Space Needle boasts
fabulous 360 degree views that include Mt. Rainier, Puget Sound,
the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, the beautiful city of Seattle and
beyond. Seattle Aquarium – Featuring a stunning viewing window that looks into
a 454,00 litre aquarium filled with salmon, colourful rockfish, vibrant sea
anemones, and other native Washington marine life.

Boeing Factory – Go behind the hangar doors to discover Boeing’s inner
workings on a tour of the Boeing Factory. Starting at Future of Flight
where you’ll be able to discover 8500 square kilometres of interactive
aviation exhibits. View the flight line and aeroplanes in various stages of
assembly.
Seattle Underground Tour – Seattle was rebuilt on top of itself after the
Great Fire of 1889. This has left underground footpaths and storefronts
which are absolutely fascinating.
