This itinerary is a fantastic option for those wanting to see another
side of Argentina. The Northwest is one of the most scenic areas of
this country, with gorges and quaint pretty towns full of colonial
architecture, cobblestone streets and adobe houses. Cafayate is a region
of wine and appealing landscapes, helping you to relax in the timeless
surrounds of Argentina. For a complete overview of some of South America's major attractions,
you cannot go past this fantastic itinerary. Combine the mesmerising city
of Buenos Aires and its Tango culture with the thundering Iguazu Falls,
before soaking up the sun on one of the world's most popular beaches,
Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro.
Day 1: Salta
Transfer from Salta Airport to your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon tour
through this city full of Spanish and colonial architecture; this alone
attracts visitors to come from far and wide. Day 1: Buenos Aires
Transfer from Buenos Aires Airport to your hotel for a four night stay.
Day 2: Humahuaca
Your full day tour will take you to San Salvador de Jujuy, before
continuing to Humahuaca Gorge. The region has always been a
crossroads for economic, social and cultural communication, once being
the Camino Inca. Stop along the way at Pucara (home to an old Indian
Fortress) and an archaeological museum. Return to Salta.
Day 3: Cafayate
Drive through the spectacular Calchaqui Valley to Cafayate, the wine
area of the Northwest. After a short stroll through the village, enjoy
some wine tasting at one of the local vineyards. Return to Salta.
Day 4: Salta
Transfer to the airport where your tour ends.
Days 2-4: Buenos Aires
Learn about the magical history of the city on a half day Buenos Aires
City Tour, as well as an evening at the La Ventana Dinner & Tango Show.
You’ll also have free time to explore the charming city of Buenos Aires
with its historical monuments, shops and restaurants.
Days 5-6: Buenos Aires – Iguazu Falls
Fly to Iguazu Falls (flight additional) for a two night stay. Visit both sides
of the falls with guided tours, walking through the Iguazu jungle and
getting personal with the powerful cascading water. The opportunity to
take a thrilling boat ride to touch the falls spray is possible (additional
cost); don't forget your poncho as you are bound to get wet!
Days 7-9: Iguazu Falls – Rio de Janeiro
Fly to Rio de Janeiro for a three night stay. You have two full days to
visit 'Christ the Redeemer' and take a cable car up Sugarloaf mountain
on your included tour. Explore the Rio nightlife in your free time, along
with relaxing at the beach and taking in the fantastic shopping that Rio is
famous for.
Day 10: Rio de Janeiro
Make the most of one last morning in Rio before transferring back to the
airport, where your arrangements will end.
