Our favourite things to see and do
El Calafate – A small but very important city in the
southwest of Argentina, El Calafate is the gateway to visiting
Los Glaciares National Park. The streets of El Calafate are
buzzing with people who have been amazed by the sights of
Perito Moreno Glacier, Cerro Chaltén and Cerro Torre.
The Northwest & Salta – Home to an abundance of
natural attractions and atmospheric relics from the pre-
Columbian and colonial past, this is the more 'traditional'
part of Argentina. Salta is one of the most popular cities in
this area and is the most well preserved colonial city in the
country, with hundreds of archaeological sites, subtropical
forests and desert canyons to explore.
Argentine Cuisine – Argentineans take notable pride in
their meat dishes, and culinary chefs will enlighten you with
some of the most aromatic mouthfuls you’ll ever experience!
Buenos Aires Markets – If you're anything like us, you'll
love perusing the markets for a good bargain, packed with
home-grown charm. A favourite for locals are the Recoleta
Markets every Saturday and Sunday, plonked conveniently
outside the famous museum with plenty of grassy space
for a picnic from the street food stalls nearby. San Telmo
Antique Markets occur every Sunday, where the streets are
brimming with ancient treasures amongst new crafts.
Mendoza – Sitting in the foothills of the Andes, one of the
main reasons people visit Mendoza is for the wine, with
plenty of vineyards scattered around the countryside. It is a
great place for activities such as hiking, horse riding, rafting
and skiing in the winter months. Mendoza is also a regular
stopover for mountain climbers on their way to Aconcagua.
Tango Lessons – You will come across it everywhere you
go while wandering Buenos Aires and most of Argentina, so
why not learn the alluring Tango yourself? Your new found
talent is sure to impress friends and family back home.
