Atacama Desert Known to be the driest desert in the world, the Atacama Desert in Northern Chile is a region where sand dunes, volcanoes, gigantic geysers, hot water springs and crusty salt lakes make for an amazing collection of geologically photographic sights. You will feel as though you are part of a painting. With some parts of the desert recorded as never seeing rain, weather here rarely changes, proving that Atacama is a destination to visit all year round. Due to the altitude and dryness of the area, it is also a unique stargazing haven, making the magical town of San Pedro de Atacama a hot spot for travellers from all over the world. This beautifully preserved Spanish colonial centre features a charming main square and a simple 16th century church. A visit to the Atacama Desert will not leave you disappointed with its fascinating and dramatic sights. © Jenna Martin, House of Travel Hotel Alto Atacama Luxury Des
