Kota Kinabalu
Sabah’ s main city is Kota Kinabalu. Razed to the ground by the British and occupying Japanese, the city was effectively rebuilt in the late 1940s. Many of Sabah’ s main attractions are within an easy day trip from the city, making it ideal for exploring. The city itself is based on the coast, overlooking a cluster of islands in the South China Sea. To the other side it is backdropped by the towering Crocker Mountain Range with Mt. Kinabalu in the far distance.
