Fraser Island & Hervey Bay
Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world: 123 kilometres in length with striking sand cliffs, over 100 freshwater lakes, crystal clear flowing streams, dramatic shipwrecks and a thriving wild dingo population. That’ s just one of the highlights of the Fraser Coast, just three and a half hours north of Brisbane. Another hot spot on this coast is Hervey Bay, considered Australia’ s whale watching capital. Fishing, sailing, glass-bottomed boat trips, museums and art galleries, sheltered beaches and a mild climate – it’ s little wonder that the region’ s catchphrase is‘ Perfect by Nature’.
