Victoria, Vancouver Island A perfect day in Victoria, Vancouver Island O n the southern tip of Vancouver Island, an elegant reminder of the British Empire lives on as the capital of British Columbia. Victoria, with its iconic Provincial Legislature buildings and Empress Hotel, provides a remarkable contrast to the untamed landscapes that surround it. Victoria is well known for the amazing Butchart Gardens just 20 minutes outside downtown. A designated National Historic Site, Butchart has over 50 acres of magnificent gardens to explore. Take a stroll through themed gardens linked by spacious lawns, streams and lily ponds. The gardens were established in 1904 and are in the style of the grand estates of the time. If you happen to be in Victoria between April-October you can’t go past a whale watching trip. For a real thrill head out on a zodiac, or take the leisurely option on a covered boat. Head out in search of minke whales, gray whales, harbour seals and other marine life. If you’re lucky enough you might be able to spot one of the resident orcas that live near Victoria year round. Join a cycling tour where you can explore the sights and sounds of James Bay and Oak Bay and get an insightful commentary on what makes Victoria one of the most treasured cities in the world. You must’ve worked up an appetite by now, so for a treat why not indulge in a traditi
