With much of the western United States in a severe drought , P & G Professional ’ s Tide Professional Coldwater Laundry System has pledged to help hotel operators save as much as US $ 8,700 per year ( for a 150-room hotel ).
A Silver Edison Green Award winner for water and energy saving capabilities , the system uses a wash process that reduces the number of fills and water used per wash , ultimately reducing water usage by up to 40 %. The system also uses enzymes designed for lower wash temperatures to break down stains .
