“ THERE ARE ORGANIZATIONS WITH FLATTER STRUCTURES AND SOME DEGREE OF FEEDBACK THAT RISES UP , AS WELL AS FLOWS DOWN , WHICH MAKE FOR BETTER PLACES TO WORK .”
– ANNA MONTGOMERY understand their unique selling points , how they treat people and learn why people are so interested in them . And then , perhaps , when coming back to hotels , it will help to see things from both sides . ESE : What ' s attractive for me about companies like Airbnb or disruptors is that they have that startup culture . I didn ' t even think about it that way until you said the word ‘ disruptor ’… It ’ s very fast growing and I see that as an opportunity to contribute , as well as get to know these rising trends . And at the end of the day , I am still drawn to the more traditional side of hotel development , but I think it ' s very important to learn about the disruptors . As someone who ' s young , the corporate environment of being in an innovation and fast-growing company is very attractive . H : What type of organization would have a better chance of holding on to you longer , and why ? HL : Two things are most important : first , whether they have elevation programs for young employees to grow ? Do they have a very specific system for us to learn more skills and talk to the right people and to grow ourselves in the system ? And second , is the culture , which goes a long way to keep people . If the company values people , cares about you and respects you , they will have better potential to keep the young people they need . ESE : I think about corporate values in terms of empowerment and growth – not just within your career , but personal growth and having people who see potential in you . Wanting the best for you , whether or not that ' s going to be with that company specifically . H : Is there one ingredient in the corporate cultural mix that you find critical or appealing ? AM : The ability to be transparent and give feedback in a way that doesn ' t just go from the top down … There are organizations with flatter structures and some degree of feedback that rises up , as well as flows down , which make for better places to work . TJ : For millennials and Gen Zs , they work to have a more interesting journey in life . And then in that case it ' s really important for the company to be able to curate a journey of work , allow me to see that I am able to grow within the work . That will definitely help me to stay longer … And , millennials need instant feedback . Instant feedback makes us feel like we have value .
