The Langham , Chicago definitely is a landmark hotel for Langham Hospitality Group . Not only is it the company ’ s first purpose-built hotel in North America , it resides in an iconic building in the heart of Chicago originally designed by legendary architect Mies van der Rohe . Lead interior design firm Richmond International worked to transform the space from the office tower it had been into a hotel with an overall aesthetic focused on contemporary luxury blended with the clean , simple lines of the original architecture . In the Pavilion , expansive glass art overhead is inspired by the colors and fluidity of the nearby Chicago River . Read more in Design starting on p30 .
