A standard king room in the
Department of Biology
Guests retire to other departments – botany , astronomy – with period décor . We are modifying the herpetology room ; some people , don ’ t ask me why , don ' t like snakes . The destination restaurant , Pink Pearl , is named after the wife of the first dean in 1889 . The current dean – the general manager – is Ty Collins , Pearl ’ s descendant , and he and the staff dress in period uniforms and play their parts .

COLLECTING THE DETAILS The resort ’ s décor includes more than 3,000 antiques and vintage pieces , some dating to 1760 , that took more than two years to gather . We collected silver trophies , scales , coffee grinders , typewriters and a magical American cash register that I found in Paris . I wanted to provide irrefutable evidence that Lamarck University existed . So we modified , by hand , hundreds of antique paintings , trophies ,
