DESIGNER : Rottet Studio , Houston HIGHLIGHT : In an effort to transport guests to Art Deco Miami of the 1920s through the 1940s , many of the hotel ’ s original signature design elements were retained , such as the decorative compass rose on the lobby ’ s terrazzo floor and the green glass reception desk that was restored and converted to a juice bar .

DESIGNER : HBA Design , Singapore HIGHLIGHT : Occupying a triple-height space with dramatic views , the lobby forms the base of the atrium that rises more than 30 stories . Its centerpiece is a contemporary sculpture suggesting a bird or a flower in vivid red lacquer on a raised dais .

DESIGNER : TAL Studio , Las Vegas HIGHLIGHT : In addition to rich earth tones and a respect for the building ’ s original architecture , broad historical references are made with Navajo-print rugs , wall-mounted antlers and 1920s-era light fixtures .

HIGHLIGHT : The 131-sq-m ( 1,410-sq-ft ) suite features smoked oak and marble flooring , plush drapery , hand-knotted rugs , horsehair upholstery and black lacquered panelwork that aim to embrace and complement the weathered stone façade of the building ’ s exterior .
