Risonare Nasu ’ s “ Farmer ’ s Lesson ” gets guests involved with staff gardeners to sow seeds , make fertilizer and harvest vegetables and herbs . Guerrilla gardeners – friends of Klein and Dytham – planted over 100 different herbs in the greenhouse , many of which are used to make different teas . Kids collect basil and vegetables for their pizzas , and the Shaki Shaki restaurant ’ s salad buffet allows guests to pick their own greens sourced from the garden .
As expected , COVID-19 has had an impact , but Risonare Nasu remains optimistic and has adjusted its offering in response . “ Although some cancellations have occurred ,” Matsuda says , “ the business situation in Nasu is not so desperate . We ’ re offering new long-stay plans of more than five nights so guests can relax and refresh with fine meals and coworking facilities , far away from the bustle of the city .”
Hoshino isn ’ t slowing down , either : It is busy with five new properties slated to open in Japan in 2020 : KAI Nagato , Yamaguchi prefecture and Beb5 Tsuchiura in Ibaraki prefecture , both in March ; Risonare Kohamajima in April ; Hoshinoya Okinawa in May ; and Omo3 Tokyo Kawasaki in June .
