The influence that Airbnb , upscale hostels , co-working spaces and concepts like mindfulness are having on the traveling public begs the question , “ Is hospitality fundamentally being redefined ?” No doubt , the hotel industry is responding to changing demographics and psychographics with new lifestyle brands that sell new experiences and services . How on target are they , though ?

To gain greater insight about how hoteliers are competing , HOTELS gathered eight industry leaders for a roundtable hosted by The Wall Street Journal to discuss topics including co-working and wellness , as well as how to best deploy emerging technology . At the end of the day , how much is success tied to creating a more sophisticated mousetrap , or does it still boil down to great locations , great amenities and the best service ?
