Tristan Auer already had an idea for a hotel — “ a design that would play with the religious codes of the collective unconscious ” — so perhaps it was an answered prayer when Evok Hotels Collection asked him to create the interiors of Sinner Paris , in the city ’ s Le Marais district . The result , incorporating touches like incense , stained glass and dark , intimate spaces , is irreverent without being sacrilegious , and aimed at a crowd that prefers emotion and surprise to classic luxury .
