From the founding of Châteaux & Hôtels Collection in 1975 , says CEO Xavier Alberti , “ the ambition was to offer to travelers unique moments , true experiences .” The collection announced in December that it was partnering with Airbnb on the home-sharing service ’ s Trips product , which offers activities and tours in 12 cities worldwide , to offer four experiences in Paris ; others are planned for this year . Here ' s what Alberti says :
HOW DOES THE AGREEMENT WORK ? The partnership doesn ’ t imply financial arrangement , and the collection doesn ’ t receive a percentage of the bookings made on Airbnb . The collection ’ s houses , thanks to our partnership , can directly propose their unique rooms on Airbnb .
HOW IS THE RESPONSE ? A review will be done in June , after six months of promotion . However , we believe that the experiences that we designed for Airbnb will strongly interest travelers and Parisians who want to discover Paris off the beaten path .
MANY HOTEL COMPANIES VIEW AIRBNB AS AN ADVERSARY . WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY ? Châteaux & Hôtels Collection ’ s ambition is to offer world travelers a selection of hotels and restaurants that allow them to discover a country with sincerity and authenticity . The personal , human interactions with hosts are essential to transform a trip into a meaningful memory . Our collection boasts hotels , restaurants and guesthouses connected by the passion of the owners , our “ Maître des Lieux ,” to offer to each guest a unique experience . We share the same vision of trips with Airbnb and it was natural for us to join forces for the benefit of travelers .

Vanessa Sinders , senior vice president of government affairs at the bipartisan American Hotel and Lodging Association , on the organization ’ s approach to U . S . President Donald Trump ’ s administration :

“ Our first objective is making sure that these

officials understand our industry ,” she said . “( Trump ’ s ) background in the hospitality and real estate industries is obviously going to bring an important understanding of some of the issues we ’ re dealing with to the White House , the administration and Washington . That ’ s going to be important … We are making contact with the people and agencies that are important to us , in a deliberate way , to make sure our perspectives are heard .
