At ORU , mix-and-match is all about the designer and his designs : Chargers in eight different Versace patterns are placed at each setting of the “ see and be seen ” table at the restaurant of the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver , British Columbia .
“ The china is only served at the exclusive Curator ’ s Table , designed for an intimate dinner party and dedicated to the art of great food and conversation ,” says Renata Li , project manager at Vancouver architecture firm Westbank Projects , who oversaw the design . Gold flatware completes the look on the custom-made table overlooking the Lobby Lounge .
“ We felt that using a few different patterns allowed for an informal type of luxury that echoes the diverse nature of the clientele at the hotel ,” Li says . “ The bold patterns and colors act as a great counterpoint to the minimalist aesthetic of ORU — it adds another layer of sophistication to the restaurant .”
